TAI CHI CHUAN

Tai Chi Chuan is called meditation in movement and is based on the principle of
the soft overcoming the hard.
The interaction of Yin and Yang techniques in Tai
Chi Chuan are derived from the Chinese Philosophy as propounded in the I- ching (The Book of Changes).
Originally taught by the Chen family to the Yang family
and kept a closely guarded secret for centuries, Tai Chi Chuan became accessible in the early 20th century.

Tai Chi Chuan consists of single positions leading to a complex flow of movements constituting the so-called "form." The Yang Style is known as the softest of all internal martial arts. Through a slow and even flowing practice the sensibility of recognizing and controlling internal as well as external energy potentials increases. The natural result is sharp concentration, keener body control and the activation of self-healing forces.

"Tai Chi Chuan's movements are deliberately slow as if there are no moves at all.
The different postures are reflections of internal energy flow directed by the mind
 and heart.

The principles of body mechanics used in Tai Chi Chuan are universal to all human beings. These principles promote good health and animate one's daily activities. There is no doubt that they help martial artists attain their goal of speed and maximum power. Therefore Tai Chi Chuan has been one of the best Chinese
martial arts and a means of achieving physical fitness for centuries."
